Xbox on the Go: Leaked Dashboard Hints at Portable Console
The gaming world is abuzz with the latest leak from Top Gear, showcasing a handheld-friendly Xbox dashboard that has everyone talking. This unexpected reveal has added fuel to the long-standing rumors of an Xbox portable device, similar to the Steam Deck.
The future of gaming on-the-go?
Xbox boss Phil Spencer has been vocal about his admiration for the Steam Deck and other PC devices, and in June, he essentially confirmed that Xbox is working on its own variation of the concept. While we’ve had hints and whispers, this is the first visual leak that suggests a portable Xbox console might be closer than we think.
The leaked dashboard features a version of the blades design from the Xbox 360 era, which many fans would welcome anyway. Although it’s only on screen for a few seconds, we can see that Halo Infinite, Fortnite, and The Finals are featured.
The leaked Xbox dashboard
Microsoft has previously implied that their next-gen console(s) will be released in 2026, but it wouldn’t be surprising if they launched a new version of the dashboard, designed with a portable in mind, before it’s officially out – to get people used to the concept.
Technically, none of Spencer’s hints have mentioned the next-gen, and while that’s what everyone has assumed he’s getting at, it’s possible Xbox could release a portable this generation and then another one in 2026. That’s just speculation, though, and it’ll need an official announcement from Xbox before it’s clear what they’re planning.
The future of gaming is portable
One thing is certain – the gaming world is eagerly waiting for an official announcement from Xbox. Will they surprise us with a portable console release before 2026? Only time will tell.
‘Would look good on an Xbox portable, is all I’m saying!’ - The sentiment echoes through the gaming community as we eagerly await the next move from Xbox.
