F1 24: A Missed Opportunity on Steam Deck

As a racing enthusiast, I was excited to dive into F1 24 on my trusty Steam Deck. Unfortunately, my excitement was short-lived. The latest Formula 1 racing game fails to deliver Steam Deck support from day one, leaving me feeling like I’ve been left in the pits.

The Problem with F1 24 on Steam Deck

When I attempted to boot up F1 24 on my Steam Deck, I was met with a disappointing error message: “The program encountered E111000B at 00001E83 during initialization. Wine, Proton, and Steam Deck are not supported by this application.” It’s clear that F1 24 is not compatible with Steam Deck, at least not yet.

A Game That Should Have Been a Natural Fit

Given the Steam Deck’s impressive specs, I was surprised to find that F1 24 doesn’t support it. The game’s system requirements suggested that it would run smoothly on the Steam Deck, but it seems that’s not the case. This is a missed opportunity, as the Steam Deck is the perfect device for playing games like F1 24 on the go.

The Future of F1 24 on Steam Deck

While F1 24 may not be compatible with Steam Deck at launch, I’m holding out hope that a future update will change this. If the situation changes, I’ll be sure to retest the game and discover the best settings for playing on Valve’s portable powerhouse.
