Asus is Plotting a Second-Gen ROG Ally Handheld for Later This Year
The gaming world is abuzz with the news that Asus is planning to launch a second-generation ROG Ally handheld gaming PC later this year. This comes as a surprise, considering the first-generation Ally was only released last May. But Asus is not one to rest on its laurels, and it seems they’re already looking to improve upon their initial design.
In an interview with Techlusive, Asus India’s VP of consumer and gaming PCs, Arnold Su, revealed that the company is planning to launch a second-generation Ally that will focus more on gaming. This is great news for gamers who have been eagerly awaiting an upgrade to the original Ally.
The future of gaming is in our hands
The success of the original Ally is evident in the sales figures. Asus has sold a whopping 70,000 to 80,000 units of the Ally in India alone. This is a testament to the growing popularity of handheld gaming PCs, and Asus is clearly looking to capitalize on this trend.
But what can we expect from the second-generation Ally? One obvious upgrade would be an OLED panel to replace the IPS screen on the original Ally. This would greatly enhance the gaming experience, providing more vibrant colors and deeper blacks.
A glimpse into the future of handheld gaming
As for the chip, it’s likely that Asus will opt for the upcoming AMD Strix Point APU. This chip boasts 16 RDNA 3.5-spec graphics compute units, a significant upgrade from the AMD Phoenix APU used in the current Ally. This would provide a significant boost to gaming performance, making the second-generation Ally a formidable gaming device.
The power behind the next-gen Ally
The handheld gaming market is growing rapidly, and Asus is clearly looking to stay ahead of the curve. With the second-generation Ally, gamers can expect a more powerful, more portable, and more immersive gaming experience. We can’t wait to see what Asus has in store for us.
