The wait is finally over, and AMD has officially unveiled the Ryzen 9 9950X, the first CPU to feature the Zen 5 architecture. This powerful processor boasts up to 16 high-performance CPU cores, 32 threads, and a whopping 50% more on-chip L3 cache memory compared to its predecessor, the Zen 4.

“We are so excited to introduce the Ryzen 9000 series, the world’s most powerful desktop processors for gamers and creators, and the 3rd generation AMD Ryzen AI processors, which provide leadership AI and compute performance for ultrathin and premium Copilot+ PCs,” said Jack Huynh, senior vice president and general manager, Computing and Graphics Group at AMD.

The Ryzen 9000 series also includes the Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X processors, all of which are expected to ship in July 2024. Pricing details have not been announced yet.

AM5 Socket Motherboard Family

The AM5 socket motherboard family has also been introduced, featuring two new chipsets designed to seamlessly integrate with AMD Ryzen 9000 Series desktop processors: the AMD X870E and X870 chipsets.
